 It cannot be denied that talking and texting on a wireless phone while driving is dangerous, and Pennsylvania legislators are one step closer to making it illegal, too. On January 26th, a bill was overwhelmingly approved in the House of Representatives to ban talking and texting while driving. If it is approved in the Senate, the Governor has already agreed to sign the bill and make it law. Currently, the bill imposes a $50 fine for violations, except those made in emergency situations. The legislation does allow drivers to use hands-free devices to operate their phones, and GPS systems would also still be legal. Three PA localities already have hands-free driving laws in place.
